We deliver software for railroads, logistics companies, and end customers to make shipping by rail simple, efficient, and automated. We are seeking a Data Scientist to further develop our predictive capabilities and dive deeper into rail analytics.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Data Scientist at Telegraph, you will be instrumental in expanding our business intelligence capabilities. You will collaborate closely with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to enhance Telegraph’s predictive models and optimize the delivery of data incubated products.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU MUST
Predictive Model Development/Improvement: Spearhead the development and refinement of predictive models to accurately forecast Estimated Times of Arrival (ETA) for freight, leveraging advanced machine learning techniques.
Ad-hoc Data Analyses: Conduct comprehensive ad-hoc data analyses to uncover insights, support decision-making processes, and address complex business challenges.
Data Infrastructure Development: Take the lead in expanding our data infrastructure, including building out data marts with dbt and integrating new data sources to enrich our analytical capabilities.
Data Visualization: Create intuitive and insightful data visualizations to communicate findings and empower stakeholders with actionable intelligence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, preferably within the freight or logistics industry.
Technical Expertise: Profound knowledge in machine learning, statistical modeling, and algorithm development.
Programming Proficiency: Skilled in programming languages such as Python, R, and familiar with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
SQL Mastery:Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis.
Optimization Techniques: Experience with optimization techniques and their practical applications.
Data Visualization Tools: Competence in using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js.
Cloud Computing Platforms:/i> Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS, GCP, enhancing our data processing and storage capabilities.
Independent Work Ethic: Ability to work independently, managing multiple projects with diverse objectives simultaneously.
Communication Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of presenting complex data in an understandable manner.
Team Collaboration: Strong desire to collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the freight or transportation industry is a significant plus.
