Telegraph is a B2B SaaS company disrupting the under digitized freight railroad segment of the supply chain. Our product is the first-ever cloud-based operating system for the rail ecosystem. On any given day, 40% of all goods in North America are moved on a freight train. We deliver software for railroads, logistics companies, and end customers to make shipping by rail simple, efficient, and automated. We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to further develop the platform for new customers and use cases.
A Little Bit About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be a key player in enhancing the backbone of our SaaS platform. This role involves direct collaboration with the VP of Engineering, where you will co-lead the development initiatives to adapt and scale our solutions for new and existing customers. Your contributions will be critical in driving the future expansions and capabilities of our platform.
To be successful you must:
Strategic Development: Spearhead the backend development of our platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
Close Collaboration: Work closely with the VP of Engineering to align development with overall business objectives and customer needs.
API Craftsmanship: Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs that enable flexible and scalable interactions between different system components.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership within the team, promoting best practices in coding, testing, and maintenance.
Complex Problem Solving: Address complex technical challenges with innovative solutions, contributing to all software development lifecycle phases.
Proactive Collaborator: Exceptional at fostering collaboration and inspiring action across teams such as Engineering, Product, Design, Operations, and Business Development.
Data Enthusiast: Proficient in data aggregation, event sourcing, and API design, using data to propel strategic decisions.
API Craftsmanship: Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs that enable flexible and scalable interactions between different system components.
Hands-on Leader: Skilled in navigating projects, making critical technical decisions, and empowering teams to innovate and build.
Growth-Oriented: Thrives in a startup environment; committed to rapid learning and adaptation.

Job Responsibilities
Experience: Minimum 6 years of backend development experience, preferably in a startup or high-growth tech environment.
Tech Stack: Strong expertise in backend development with proven skills in Python or Golang.
Architectural Acumen: Advanced knowledge of Systems and API design.
Bonus!: Competence in machine learning tools, DevOps or Infrastructure.
